As proud Fifers, we are always on the hunt for ways we can give back to the local community. So, when we heard a young sporting talent was in need of sponsorship for an upcoming international ice hockey tournament, we jumped at the chance.

Saša Cargill, a budding junior ice hockey player from Fife, has been chosen to represent Scotland in the EMF International Tournament in Bratislava this April. As part of the under-11 squad, the young athlete will compete in six games against teams from across Europe.

At just 10 years old, Saša's dedication to the sport is truly admirable. His journey began at just two years old when he first laced up his skates, and since then, has been training regularly with the Dundee Stars - even committing to daily off-ice conditioning to ensure he's in peak physical condition. Late last year, following three gruelling trials in Dumfries, Saša was selected to represent Scotland in the international competition.

Ice hockey holds a special place in our hearts at Pinpoint. Our late founder, John Waring, was deeply involved in the sport as the director and sponsor of the esteemed Fife Flyers. And, despite being one of the most-watched indoor sports in the UK, the sport faces funding challenges.

It is for these reasons that we are pleased to offer Saša £500 to cover his travel and accommodation expenses for the tournament in Bratislava. It's a small gesture compared to the immense dedication Saša has shown to his sport, but we hope it helps him focus on what he does best – playing his heart out on the ice.

Saša's father, Richard Cargill, expressed his gratitude for our sponsorship, emphasising how much it means to Saša and his fellow teammates.

“We are extremely grateful to Pinpoint for funding Saša’s trip to Bratislava as part of Scotland’s national team. The passion and dedication that Saša and the other players have for the sport is unmatched, and they are over the moon to be attending the tournament in Slovakia.”

As Saša prepares to represent Scotland in Bratislava, we send him our best wishes and support. We do not doubt that he'll make us all proud. Go Saša and go Team Scotland!
