Advanced Receiver Units (ARUs)

Advanced Receiver Units (ARUs) are installed in the ceiling no more than 20m apart and are activated by a Personal Infrared Transmitter (PIT) without having to point, from no more than 10m away.

Connectivity

Programmed in situ with its own unique address which can be shared with other units to give greater coverage in the same area.

Design

Made from a durable polycarbonate with an all-over infrared window, the ARU is available in black or white and double or single gang size.

When a staff member activates their Personal Infrared Transmitter (PIT), the ARU is triggered and transmits its “address” to designated Display Units and other communication devices notifying response staff of the location and type of call.

ARUs include all over infrared windows as well as supersensitive circuitry to ensure the unit is triggered instantly by the coded infrared transmitters.

They are programmed with a unique address using a handheld programmer or can be set up to share the address of another unit if required. ARUs come in either black or white.
The Addressable Receiver Unit (ARU) receives the infrared signal sent out by transmitters, such as PITs, and transmits the location and level of call across the system. Each ARU is programmed with its own unique address in the range of 0001-2272. When activated, the ARU transmits its address systemwide via the data bus. The ARU has external inputs which can also be used to trigger the unit. Products such as Call Buttons, Door Contacts and Pull Cords are compatible with this feature (please see Handheld Programming Unit Operator’s Guide for more information). An ARU can also be programmed with a dual address so that when a connected device is activated a different message will be displayed (Note: this is Emergency level only).

There is a flush mounted green LED on the fascia to provide reassurance. It has three rates of flash:
- Ready/Idle (Can be disabled if required)
- Emergency Alarm
- Test/Assistance Call being received

Wherever possible the ARU should be located centrally on the ceiling of the room where cover is required. It must be located at least 5ft (1500mm) away from fluorescent lights to prevent any external interference. Consideration should also be given to the condition of the surface to which the ARU is to be mounted: It should be free from damp/moisture, not be subject to any shock or vibration, and be secure enough to allow a good fixing for the ARU and backbox.
Design
The ARU has a tinted rectangular infrared-transparent fascia manufactured from polycarbonate for strength and durability. The all-over, infrared window has been designed to be as low profile as possible while also featuring a convex shape to give it as little visual impact on its environment while being incredibly robust and offering a reduced ligature risk. Internally it has bespoke amplifying and filtering circuitry to enable it to recognise the incoming infrared code from the transmitter and distinguish it from extraneous infrared light from other sources.

Caller ID and individual reset (used in conjunction with the Reset Hub) are compatible with this product range.
