The P2 PIT is a Personal Infrared Transmitter to be used by staff to activate the Pinpoint System. It can be used to activate either a single level of call (Emergency) or either of 2 levels of call (eg, Emergency + Assistance) depending on the model of the PIT. Activation is by either pressing the button on the base of the unit or by pulling the PIT from its retaining pin. Pulling the PIT from the retaining pin will activate an Emergency level of call, whereas pressing the button will activate the secondary feature. These are described in the Product Codes section.
When the PIT has been pulled from its retaining pin several bursts of coded infrared light are immediately spread towards the receiver unit in the room. Therefore there is no need to point the PIT directly at the receiver units for the alarm to be triggered.
PITs should be worn at all times by staff and are recommended to be worn at waist level - this could be attached to the belt or to another suitable part of clothing by a “dog lead” hook, leather strap or a standard nurse/waistband clip to allow for easy access. In addition to this, an integral bungee loop has been added for unit retention.
Design
The design features a dual material, all over rubberised grip which is moulded directly onto a durable polycarbonate body; as well as a smooth textured, durable button for easy finding in panic situations. The rubberised grip has integrated Biomaster additive to inhibit the growth of a wide range of microbes, fungi and moulds over the entire lifespan or the product. The unit is assembled by a springclip and two retaining security (T6) screws to avoid unauthorised disassembly.
In addition, the transmitter features a battery level status LED, which shines through the top of the unit, giving the user a visual indication of the PIT’s power status - indicating if the unit needs its battery replaced or needs re-energising.
