John McSwiggan is our Sales Engineer over in Ireland, where he manages and supports projects across Ireland and Northern Ireland. 

Here he shares more about his role, what it’s like to work at Pinpoint, and his love of the great outdoors! 

How long have you worked at Pinpoint?

I’m approaching 20 years with the company.

What three words would you use to describe your role?

Diverse, vital, rewarding.

What does a typical working day look like for you?

Every day is different, but a day could include:

• A site visit for engineering or sales-related purposes
• Costing for new projects
• Making contact with potential customers
• Supporting existing end users

What do you most enjoy about your job?

I enjoy the varied nature of the role, and meeting and developing relationships with end users. 

And what is the most challenging?

The environments where our systems are installed can be challenging places to work, which gives me the utmost respect for the people who dedicate their lives to frontline service.

What has been the best project you have been involved with?

Having been involved in so many different projects, it’s difficult to narrow it down to one. That being said, in the last couple of years we undertook a really interesting project for Sligo Mental Health – the new Psychiatric Admissions Unit on the grounds at Sligo University Hospital.

When I started with Pinpoint 20 years ago, the unit was being talked about then. I was very pleased to see the project come to fruition at long last.

How do you spend your time outside of work?

My wife and I are keen beekeepers which keeps us busy at the weekend, it’s a great way to recharge the batteries and spend time outdoors.

In your opinion, what is it that makes Pinpoint unique?
