Pinpoint are delighted to sponsor Dan Angell and Tony Wyles (Team Second Chance) part of Row2Recovery, a British unincorporated Association of volunteers that assists military adaptive rowing as they take part in the 2018 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge.

The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge will see 30 teams from across the globe row under their own power for more than 3,000 nautical miles across the world’s second largest ocean. The journey will start from San Sebastian, La Gomera in the Canary Islands and finish at Nelson’s Dockyard English Harbour in Antigua & Barbuda. The boats which are 7.5 metres long and 1.8 metres wide include only one small cabin to provide protection against the hazardous weather conditions, which can often include 30-40-foot waves, storms and tropical heat.

Having previously competed in team rowing races, Dan and Tony are no strangers to such challenges, having competed in a 500-mile row from London to Paris and raising a staggering £122,000 for The Ickle Pickle Children’s Charity as well as Help 4 Heroes.

Dan, who is Managing Director of a Public Affairs company, is a keen rower with a passion for martial arts. Tony has served 23 years in the Territorial Army and in 2006, sustained life-threatening injuries, including the loss of his right leg below the knee, whilst conducting commercial operations in Lebanon. His determination to recover saw him return to work within 6 months where he continues to work in mine clearance.

Sponsorship from Pinpoint will ensure that Team Second Chance can purchase vital equipment to successfully process salt water into safe drinking water throughout the duration of their challenge.
